"If it is absolutely necessary for art or theater to serve any purpose, it will be to teach people that there are activities that are useless and that it is essential that they exist."

-Eugène Ionesco

  • Chaos and control

    Chaos and control

The project grew out of a need to pause and notice what usually goes unseen: the subtle, almost fragile moments between movement and stillness. I learned to trust doubt as part of the process, not as weakness, but as something that keeps the work alive.

  • Somewhere in between

    Somewhere in between

I realised I should trust those first takes, my intuition and instincts. A lot of inspiration for my work comes from the things that I feel, imagine, remember, long for, love doing or wish I’d be doing more.

    Fragments from a cereal box

They include small, flat ceramic figurines that I make based on tracings of drawings my Gramma did for me when I was around four years old. She would draw them on the backs of cereal or cracker boxes, and I’d lay them out on the TV room floor.

Places

“A city is like an animal. It has a nervous system, a head, shoulders, and feet. Every city is different from every other: no two are alike. And a city has collective emotions.”

-John Steinbeck

  • Cà Phê Lalot

    Cà Phê Lalot

Right before we got the keys to our restaurant we were guest chefs in Bangkok, so we took the chance to visit as many traditional breakfast places as we could. The atmosphere of those places is the key inspiration for us and the essence of feeding the working people in the neighborhood is what we do now.

  • Café Fokus

    Café Fokus

Florent Vatin How did this place come about and what made it different from the start? We met through skateboarding in Vienna and had both been skating for more than twenty years. But we never really liked being labelled as skaters, and we certainly don’t see Fokus as a “skate café”. Still, skateboarding is part of our…

    Grettha

  • Rosebar Centrala

    Rosebar Centrala

Running a restaurant comes with many different challenges and competing priorities, but we are hosts before we are cooks or businesspeople. A good and successful restaurant has to live by that. The food can be excellent, but people also need to feel genuinely welcome and cared for.

Writing

“I'm always so amazed when people talk about a definitive edition! How can an author not regret an awkward point or an adjective? It's absurd.”

“Personally, I can't live without my art. But I've never put that art above anything else.”

-Albert Camus

Books

"I'm not one of those who only thinks among books, inspired by books; however, I tend to think outdoors, walking, jumping, climbing, dancing, especially on lonely mountains or by the sea, where the paths themselves become thoughtful."
