"If it is absolutely necessary for art or theater to serve any purpose, it will be to teach people that there are activities that are useless and that it is essential that they exist."

–Eugène Ionesco

There's intuition and error throughout the album. It's by no means an album intended to be perfect; I tend to be very free during recording. If I make a mistake but feel the take is good, I leave it in. I like those mistakes.

  • Aurora Roja

    Aurora Roja

Knowing how to take advantage of mistakes to open different creative paths is perhaps the most satisfying creative tool that exists; when you play the wrong chord and suddenly a song transforms into another one that's cooler than the one you had, it's something magical and wonderful.

  • Regando mi jardín de voluntades

    Watering my garden of wills

In this age of technological reproduction, it's a challenge to try to do something truly different when the construction of images feeds on everything visual we consume daily. Many contemporary critics claim that no one creates anything original anymore; however, I've come to understand that proposing something not necessarily new can also be meaningful.

Magazine

“I'm always so amazed when people talk about a definitive edition! How can an author not regret an awkward point or an adjective? It's absurd.”

–Jorge Luis Borges

“Personally, I can't live without my art. But I've never put that art above anything else.”

–Albert Camus

Writing

“Whatever our condition, we should always do what we want, and if we want to undertake a journey, then we should do it and not worry about our condition, even if it is the worst possible condition, because, if it is, we are finished anyway, whether we undertake the journey or not, and it is better to die having made the journey we have been longing for than to be suffocated by our longing.”

–Thomas Bernhard

  • Era domingo

    It was Sunday

When I get home, I think about the object I chose for my enjoyment, even though the battery has been dead for a while; I haven't even used it for three days since I bought it. Sexuality and self-exploration are rituals I don't want to let fall into decline.

  • El azar domesticado

    Domesticated chance

There are also coaches out there selling spells to manifest abundance and make healthy financial decisions while you do sit-ups. However, behind that choreographed display of control, chance, with its ever-present smile, is waiting for you to slip up so it can turn your life upside down.

    COMPAÑ-IA

Scientists estimate that the end of the world will occur in about six to eight billion years, but by then humanity will have been extinct for about two to three billion years.

Places

“A city is like an animal. It has a nervous system, a head, shoulders, and feet. Every city is different from every other: no two are alike. And a city has collective emotions.”

–John Steinbeck

  • Inkultur

    Inkultur

In the book world, it's a common saying that you'll never have the book a customer asks for. Our bookstore is more about being captivated by the opportunity presented by a book that happens to occupy a certain space.

  • El último encuentro

    El último encuentro

Bookstores have basic routines: sweeping, taking out the trash, organizing books, etc. One of the most exciting moments happens when books arrive that need to be cataloged, appraised, or even researched. The world of used books is a map without end.
