Was there any particular obsession, recurring theme, or image that guided the creative process behind the EP, even if it isn't immediately obvious to the listener?
Not really, to be honest. We tried to make something that was a clear improvement on our first EP and to incorporate the ways in which we have all changed since then. Ide (the singer) has been writing more from his own perspective, rather than observing what’s happening in the world.
What was the process of deciding which songs would and wouldn’t be part of the EP?
We spent the months leading up to recording the EP writing as many songs as possible. Ultimately, it came down to which songs we liked the most, and we’re very happy with the result.
What changed in the way of writing, recording, or producing on this EP compared to previous recordings?
Our first EP was a collection of songs written and recorded in different studios over a couple of years. This time, we recorded all the songs in the same week, in the same studio, with the same person, who also did the mixes (Daan Duurland). There was much more structure in how we made this EP, which was really nice for us.
Were there any songs that were particularly difficult to finish or let go of?
For the song “I Don’t Fall for It,” there was a lot of back and forth about how it should end. Then we came up with the chord progression that made it into the final version, and we instantly knew that was it.
What role did intuition and error play during the process?
At this point, everyone in the band knows each other really well. We’re getting familiar with each other's writing styles and what works for everyone. We wrote a lot of songs and made sure not to be afraid of making mistakes, continuing until we created something we were all happy with.

Was the order of the songs intended as a narrative? How was it decided?
For us, it’s more about presenting a sonic narrative rather than telling a literal story. We wanted to start and finish the EP strong and balance the energy levels throughout.
Which composers, musicians, bands, producers, or studios would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Working with Daan Duurland was really enjoyable, and we’d love to work with him again in the future.
