How did this place come about and what made it different from the start?
The origin of Anona was born from the shared understanding of the morning as an opportunity to fill your body with joy and motivation, as well as to create a sense of meaning and connection.

What part of the day, space, or creative process do those who work here enjoy the most?
Our space is small, beautiful, and very green. The morning light enters in a very special way. That is probably our favorite moment of the day—when the café is filled with calm and begins to prepare itself to receive new stories.

If someone is coming in for the first time, what should they not miss?
In a way, everything revolves around the espresso. It’s a drink that is adjusted slightly every day, according to what the coffee demands in order to be shared at its best. From there, everything at Anona seeks to align with that rhythm: the flavors, the timing, and the small details.
We like to think that Anona offers a small pause within the morning. If someone leaves feeling a little happier, more energized, and with the sense that their morning became more beautiful after stopping by, then we feel the purpose of the place has been fulfilled.

What influence, idea, or reference continues to shape the way you work today?
We believe that having the sensitivity to appreciate the beautiful details around you in the morning gives purpose and direction to everything you do. It is also the moment when the joy of the day begins, when the first foods of the day—coffee, bread, breakfast—become special as the first things the body receives, to care for it and celebrate it.
That is how Anona came to be: a space dedicated to coffee, juices, and breakfast. We exist to make the morning more beautiful, to understand the motivations that give us direction, and to honor the body that holds us.

Is there an object, corner or detail of the place that has a story that few people know?
Physically, we are located in Puerto Escondido, in Rinconada, where the city’s former airport once stood years ago. Although the space has long been transformed, it still preserves something of that spirit: a sense of openness, arrival, and movement.

If this project were a city, a book, or a record, which would it be and why?
We love Puerto Escondido. Here, the armor you carry from other places falls away, allowing you to be who you truly are. Life here is simple and pushes you to connect with what is essential: kindness, nature, freedom, and the joy of simply enjoying.
