Ritual Collective x Nomada

Ritual Collective and Nomada are in Mexico City around a simple idea: to slow down and talk about photography again from the perspective of the craft.

Ritual Collective is a group of photographers with experience in wedding photography. The project arose from the need to work on and consider each image with more time, more attention, and less distraction. The collective consists of Olya Vysotskaya, Meredith Heuer, John Dolan and Holger Thoss.

Nomada is an educational platform born in Latin America that operates through in-person meetings. It offers workshops, retreats, and spaces designed to share processes, discuss work, and build community among photographers. The project is comprised of Amelia Alvarez, Rodrigo Aguilera and Alfonso Flores.

The collaboration between Ritual and Nomada stems from a shared conversation about work, photographic practice, and collective experience.

Probably January 31, Ritual × Nomad opens that conversation with The Gathering, an open meeting in Broka, Mexico City, by 1pm to 5pm. An afternoon to talk about photography, weddings, personal projects and the different professional paths within the photographic community.

Later, the project continues with El Retiro, a four-day creative experience at Hacienda San Andrés, Estado de México. A workspace focused on visual storytelling, personal practice, and reviewing one's work. It includes photographic exercises, group discussions, and time to observe one's own work from a distance.
