How did this place come about and what made it different from the start?
Entre Mesas was born from a passion for cooking—especially for desserts. At home, dessert always had a very special place; it was the moment to share and enjoy something sweet together.

What part of the day, space, or creative process do those who work here enjoy the most?
Without a doubt, the most creative space is The Baking Lab: a place that allows us to experiment with flavors, where the whole team tastes every new product and where the magic of sharing happens in a moment full of emotion and sweetness. No item makes it onto the menu unless it has been approved by the entire team.

If someone is coming in for the first time, what should they not miss?
It’s hard to recommend just one thing, but the house favorites are: the matcha, the cinnamon rolls, the brownies, and the horchata latte, which is delicious. It’s truly difficult to suggest only one item, because everything is prepared in-house with the intention of creating desire in every bite and every sip.

What has been an interesting challenge that has made you rethink something about the project?
Formalizing Entre Mesas and bringing it into reality has been hard work day after day. Neither of us was fully prepared for the constant challenge of customer service, listening to what people ask for most in the café, and deciding what new products to incorporate. We are two siblings passionate about coffee and matcha who enjoy making everything we offer from scratch, maintaining very high standards of quality and providing fresh pastries. Being in our twenties, entrepreneurship has truly been a challenge, but it has also brought us a great deal of learning and fulfillment.

What influence, idea, or reference continues to shape the way you work today?
Our main influence has always been our mom. She always supported and encouraged us to make Entre Mesas what it is today; every improvement we make is for her. She is our greatest strength when facing difficulties, because this is a dream she helped us make real. Our goal is always to share a little of the love she put into the project and into every space.

What place, project, or person has inspired you recently and why?
Our mom and our grandmother left us an incredible legacy. They are the inspiration behind Entre Mesas—women we have admired our whole lives, who could always bring a smile to our faces with every dish and that warm flavor only a mother can give.

If your space could invite someone to collaborate for a day, who would it be and what would you do together?
Anyone who can bring new ideas is more than welcome.

Is there an object, corner or detail of the place that has a story that few people know?
The story behind our name—and the reason we decided to start this project with Entre Mesas.

If this project were a city, a book, or a record, which would it be and why?
We come from a family that loves coffee and its harvest. We grew up in spaces where baking was part of everyday life and where the flavors that define us were recognized and appreciated. Entre Mesas is a place of peace and happiness where the magic of connecting with people happens. Cities like Veracruz, Campeche, and Mérida reflect the spirit and atmosphere of the space.
