How was this song born: with an image, a phrase, a melody... or something else?
I wrote this song in 2022 and it all started with the guitar, as I always start my songs. I did the initial arpeggio and I felt a bit melancholic. Also in those days I was thinking about how sometimes you go on with life as if nothing happened and it could be that inside you are still dealing with situations that could have happened a long time ago but still affect you, they still bother you, they hurt and you just have to put on a friendly face and go on with your daily tasks, as if nothing happened. That's how it happened, I wrote it very fast because I was feeling it very strongly.
Who worked or collaborated on this song and how did they contribute to its creation?
I wrote the opening song just like I told you, almost in one go, guitar and voice. I made a vocal note. In those days with my friend Adán Naranjo we were wanting to make music and I shared my voice notes with him. Somehow he shared them with Sergio Acosta (Zoé's guitarist) and said come to Mexico I would like to produce it, and so it was. We worked with Adán, Sergio in the production and music, and myself in the lyrics and music. And we also worked with Pipe Ceballos in his studio in CDMX in fact.
How long did it take to take its final form?
Years. Literally, years. I wrote it in the first half of 2022. At the end of that year we went to CDMX to produce it with Adán and Sergio, November. We did everything there in two days. Then Sergio went on tour, so it was put on hold. For 2023 we made some arrangements, recorded some backing vocals here in Medellín, Sergio recorded the bass in Barcelona. Then we worked on the mix a little at a time, there were about twelve versions because we were attached to the detail and only in April 2024 it came out.
Is there any direct reference or influence (another song, book, movie) that is present in this song?
Not really. In those days I was looking at an encyclopedia of the human body and I was thinking about the body systems and how they work, I just felt like a body in automatic motion, that's the major reference, I would say.
What other songs or projects are coming up next?
Soon I will be releasing some songs that I have been working on by myself from production and composition. I decided to start making music with a lot of patience and calm and on my own terms. In the past I got tired of following the industry's career path, so I'm taking it easy but very, very soon I will have a new song coming out. I'm very excited about it.
