What camera and other tools did you use to make this photograph?
I used a Nikon D800, a 50mm 1.8 lens and a tripod.
Tell us about the place and day when you took this picture.
It was a few days before the end of October 2019. I was coming home from work and wanted to record what I was feeling that day with some quick self-portraits in the afternoon light coming into my studio.
What do you like most about this photo and why?
That day I explored with more emotions in front of the camera and played a bit with the editing as well. I wanted to give it this sense of nostalgia with both the look and the texture of the image.
Was there anything consciously that could be considered an influence or an inspiration within your creative process to make this image?
I was probably listening to music, it usually inspires me and drives me to create images. When the need is instantaneous, I use myself as a model.
I went from laughing at my gestures to really wanting to cry as I tried more expressions. Exploring oneself by doing these self-portrait exercises has always seemed like a form of therapy to me.
In this photograph did you do something totally different from what you normally do for other photos?
In self-portraits yes, it was the first time I explored with filters like crystals in front of the lens with one hand while posing at the same time. In this photograph in particular the result of the filter does not come out but in the whole session it does.
What did you learn in the process of creating this photograph?
I learned to experiment more with myself.
If you could have collaborated with anyone for this photo, who would it have been and why?
Ricardo Luevanos was once inspired by one of my photographs to create a work. I would have loved to have him intervene in this self-portrait as well.
Where and in what format would you like to see this image displayed?
In the infinity of the internet is fine [haha].
