Chasing The Light

What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?
I don’t have any projects in motion currently. The most recent project I worked on was documenting the Heysen Trail, which is a 1200 km hiking trail in South Australia. This hike passes through some of South Australia’s unique landscapes and national parks.

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on them?
This project helped remind me of the importance that creativity has on my wellbeing.

What words, ideas, or emotions were running through your head?
I love chasing the light. Finding beauty in the ordinary.

Were there any conversations, movies, music, or books that made their way into that work?
I don’t feel that any conversations, film, music or book found their way into this work specifically. This work was my journey and experience hiking the Heysen Trail. It was the connection to the landscape and trail that helped form this work.

What's been the most difficult thing you've faced recently in your creative process?
The most difficult thing I faced is finding the balance between life and being creative. It can be difficult finding the time to focus on the creative process with the demands of life. Being creative takes time, money, risk, failure, many different aspects which can be easy to avoid with the demands of life. Trying to find a balance that can be sustainable is important.

What is your favorite restaurant and what do you recommend we order?
Deux Coffee in Adelaide CBD. Batch brew and a croissant. Staff are extremely wholesome and the coffee was amazing!

If your life were a movie this month, what would it be called and who would write the soundtrack?
Title: Who Killed My Sourdough Starter. I would let King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard make the soundtrack for this title.

Recommend one or more artists you follow who inspire you, and tell us what you like most about their work or their way of working.
Richard Fraser and Andy Feltham: they are two artists whose work really inspires me. I love how they capture, explore and convey such beauty in mundane environments, places, spaces.
