What habit has been sustaining you lately?
Listening to my mind and prioritizing rest.
What time of day do you feel most like yourself?
Between 13:00 and 14:00. By then I’ve already woken up and fed myself, and I’ve had time to ease into the day and get a few things done, so my most authentic self can come to the surface. It’s also my preferred time to exercise for the same reason.
When recently did you feel out of place?
I’ve felt out of place in moments when certainty dissolved. When projects shifted, relationships suddenly changed tone, and what I thought I understood no longer held. That kind of contrast can leave you momentarily unmoored.
What are you still holding onto even though you know you’ll eventually have to let go?
Looking for my own value in others.
What scares you more today: change or staying the same? Why?
Staying the same. Uncertainty has been present for so long that it already feels like the norm, and that’s very scary, so I don’t want that.
Tell us about a recent experience that made you change your mind or stop believing in something.
The energy shifts I mentioned earlier. They made me realize that we need to communicate with each other more clearly and that we can’t really control how others behave. It also made me reflect on how much of myself I give to others, and on keeping my energy and love closer to my own heart.
Recommend a movie, an album, and a book and tell us why you liked each one.
Movie: Retreat. This film was very interesting, with a great premise and a strong production team. It was made by people who are actually Deaf. We don’t often get to see those perspectives, and I loved the utopian aspect of the story while it highlights their lived experience.
Album: DtMf from Bad Bunny. As a Latina, I appreciate what he brings to our culture, but this love letter to his beloved island and its people is simply wonderful and compelling. The amount of detail and history that went into it makes it an important work of art.
What is your favorite restaurant and what do you recommend we order?
My favorite restaurant is Harju8 in Helsinki. It has great decor and wonderful people, and you should definitely order their signature Pesto Pasta. The price never changes (10€!), and it’s filling and simply delicious.
Which friend have you admired lately, and why?
My friend J. We’ve been friends for most of our lives. She has faced a very difficult health challenge over the past two years, and the way she has taken it on and fought for her health and wellbeing—without losing herself in the process and while keeping her joy—leaves me forever in awe.
