This piece came about while I was looking for material for the first animated collage video I made. I was in a friend's living room, he took his mom's encyclopedias and let me cut them all out. The mountains came out of an encyclopedia and the salmon came out of a supermarket flyer I found crushed in a garage.

ANALOG COLLAGE (2017)
It's the first cover I did for a band called ‘Flamingo sunset’. The flamingo cutout fit perfectly inside the bowl and I found the scene beautiful and sad at the same time because of the interaction between the characters. I am very excited about the stories and scenarios that can be created with the interaction of cut-outs of different images.

As the pandemic began, I had a wave of catastrophic thoughts almost all the time. Even when I was at home having breakfast I could feel in danger. In this collage my purpose was to portray an everyday scene with a detail that would show the feeling that we could not stop feeling alert.

ANALOG COLLAGE (2018)
Analog collage is my favorite because it involves, almost always, completely destroying the original image to create a new one. If there are any “mistakes” you have to find a way to fix them so that they work or stand out within the composition. In collage there are no rules or mistakes.

WAITING ROOM

I remember being in the doctor's waiting room as a child. There was the smell of cigarettes, plants, and lots of magazines. I liked being able to see the pictures inside the magazines while I waited, even if I didn't read the articles. I never imagined that when I grew up I would find myself creating new scenarios from those magazines I saw while waiting.

Playing with the order of the real in the collage I have found a tool to organize and better understand the complexity of the world.
I studied Visual Communication at the Universidad de la Comunicación, I am an illustrator and I have made several music videos using the technique of animated collage. In 2018 I was a speaker at the conversation: “Híbridos, El cuerpo como imaginario” at the Palacio de Bellas Artes where the topic of amorphous creatures in contemporary art was discussed. Currently I am part of the founding team of the International Collage Festival “PASTE UP!” which had its first edition in 2019.
I have participated in several group and solo exhibitions with projects such as: Arteriorismo, Asociación Mexicana de Collagistas, Art District and Mexicollage among others.
Since 2011 I have explored analog collage as a solution to the lack of words to tell stories, describe feelings, create places and characters.
