How was this song born: with an image, a phrase, a melody… or something else?
This song came from an old memory. Walking around late at night listening to music on a cassette player as a teenager in the 90’s.
Who worked or collaborated on this song, and how did they contribute to its creation?
My friend Kyle Crane played drums on it, and my friend Alan Parker played guitar and pedal steel. They are wonderfully accomplished players who play and tour with some well loved artists. I was very fortunate to have them play on my stuff.
How long did it take to take its final shape?
It took many months. I recorded four different arrangements of this song before landing on this one.
Is there a direct reference or influence (another song, book, film) present in this song?
I reference one of my favorite records “It’s a Shame About Ray” by The Lemonheads. It came out when I was in high school and I wore out the tape a few times.
What other songs or projects are coming next?
I have a full length record coming out on August 5th called “Don’t Worry”. You can pre-order it from my website and I will mail it to you personally.

I write songs in my backyard to work out my issues, and then I release them and tour.
