Take away yesterday's skin

What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?
I take photos almost every day, but my most recent intentional project is a photographic series I titled ‘Take away yesterday's skin’. This work was done with Fomapan 200 film, a gift I took advantage of to rule out any faults in my camera.

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on it?
I learned the value of spontaneity in my creative process. This project wasn't planned; I coordinated the session at the last minute, and it came together in just forty minutes. A meticulous plan isn't necessary to create something meaningful.

What words, ideas or emotions were going through your head?
I felt very anxious. What kept me thinking during those minutes was that this roll of film shouldn't come out untouched, that the previous failed session was a beginner's mistake and not that my camera had stopped working.

Were there any conversations, movies, music, or books that made their way into that work?
Faby (la chica a la que retraté) y yo platicamos únicamente sobre el outfit que se quería lograr.

What's been the most difficult thing you've faced recently in your creative process?
The most difficult thing has been reconciling my need for financial stability with my creative passion. The time I dedicate to seeking economic survival inevitably limits the time I can invest in my projects, which creates constant friction in my process.

What is your favorite restaurant and what do you recommend we order?
I've been in Guadalajara for about a year now, I'm still discovering new places, but so far it would be Puerco Espada, I love the crispy pressed pork rind tacos with the marlin topping.

If your life were a movie this month, what would it be called and who would write the soundtrack?
I'm afraid my legs will start shaking again like that day. I would love a soundtrack by Broken Social Scene
