What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?<\/strong>
I was recently part of a group show exhibiting in Paris, and I have one upcoming in Venice later this year. I\u2019m also working on launching a print store and sorting through recent work from a trip around Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a personal note, I\u2019m spending the year driving around the Mediterranean with my husband and our dog, as a sort of \u201cadult sabbatical.\u201d I\u2019m really looking forward to documenting this time and hopefully picking up projects along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on it?<\/strong><\/strong>
Creatively, an important part of my process is the space shooting on film gives me from my work. Waiting for the results allows me to return with fresh eyes, and I\u2019m always looking back through my archives for shots that didn\u2019t speak to me at the time, but catch my eye months or years after I first took them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What words, ideas or emotions were running through your head?<\/strong><\/strong>
Currently, excitement. I\u2019m from Australia, and growing up with the beach being so accessible has always drawn me back to the water. It\u2019s my favourite subject to photograph: life on the water, how people interact with it, and the light changing throughout the day. So I\u2019m excited to expand my work documenting these parts of daily life in the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was there any conversation, film, music or book that found its way into this work?<\/strong><\/strong>
I\u2019ve been feeling inspired by old films recently, maybe in response to the AI slop infiltrating digital media. Il Postino<\/em> and The Talented Mr. Ripley<\/em>, filmed in Procida, and Luc Besson\u2019s Le Grand Bleu<\/em> on Amorgos. I\u2019m pretending these are market research as I spend the summer travelling around Greek and Italian islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was the most difficult thing you faced this month in your creative process?<\/strong><\/strong>
I recently added a medium format camera to my kit, and it\u2019s been great, though challenging, getting to know a new medium again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favourite coffee shop and why do you like going there?<\/strong><\/strong>
Being from Australia, I am, tragically, a coffee snob. When I\u2019m at home in Oxford, where I\u2019m now based, I go to New Ground<\/strong><\/a> and Society Caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>, and Opera Caf\u00e9<\/a><\/strong> for the vibes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I\u2019m visiting Sydney, my favourite thing to do is get a coffee and walk along the coast. You\u2019re spoilt for choice for good coffee, and the views are unbeatable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your life were a movie this month, what would its title be and who would make the soundtrack?<\/strong><\/strong>
The soundtrack to my travels recently has been the audiobook of Stephen Fry\u2019s Mythos<\/em> \u2014 I\u2019m brushing up on my Greek myths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you collaborated with any studios, labs or workshops recently, or would you like to in the future?<\/strong><\/strong>
Yes. I\u2019m always looking to collaborate and have some exciting partnerships with studios and publishers in the works. I go to Rapid Eye<\/strong><\/a> in London for my developing and scans; they are fantastic at what they do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommend us one or several artists you follow who inspire you, and tell us what you like most about their work or their way of working.<\/strong><\/strong>
For inspiration on composition, I always refer back to some of my favourite photographers who worked with film: Slim Aarons<\/strong><\/a> and the original Magnum photographers, as well as Ans Westra<\/strong><\/a> and Marti Friedlander<\/strong><\/a>, two pioneering female photographers from New Zealand, both masters of storytelling and portraiture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m continually inspired by the work I see online and the supportive community of emerging artists. I love seeing women\u2019s perspectives of the world through photography. Some incredible photographers I\u2019m inspired by are Lucy Laucht<\/strong><\/a>, Tanya Traboulsi<\/strong><\/a>, Annissa Durar<\/strong><\/a>, Anna Pihan<\/strong><\/a>, and many more.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
