But not everything is so bad\u2014I got a seat by the window (on public transport, let\u2019s admit it, it\u2019s the best spot).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My coffee lasts me for the ride, and from my privileged seat I can observe the speed or calm with which passersby tend to move. Many of them listen to music, walk their dogs, smile, look serious; I don\u2019t know their lives, but they keep going\u2014they don\u2019t stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are the kids carrying in those big backpacks? More than getting in the way, they make me think they might actually redirect the future and do things differently. So I don\u2019t mind helping one by placing their bag at my feet, so they don\u2019t have to carry it down that narrow aisle. The young woman next to me is reading\u2014I can\u2019t quite see what book it is, but just as we arrive in Tl\u00e1huac, she hugs it, and it is none other than <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/22664771-mascarilla-y-tr-bol\">Mask and Clover <\/a><\/strong><\/em>by Storni. I smile because, well, we must keep reading. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the traffic lights I think: \u201cWhy didn\u2019t I bring another book, a treat, something to assemble?\u201d A good song comes on\u2014the driver really knows how to soundtrack the ride\u2014so I focus on the window, and then I reflect:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On an evolutionary level, movement is the basis of life. We move through three main drives: necessity, homeostasis, and dopamine.
