What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?<\/strong>
For a long time I was focused on making portraits, but over the past two years I\u2019ve been more focused on going out and doing street photography in my city or in the places I travel to. This keeps me in constant observation of my surroundings and has helped me trust my intuition more. I don\u2019t always know exactly what draws me to a particular scene; many times there isn\u2019t a clear explanation, just a feeling that leads me to take the photograph without imposing ideas or concepts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on them?<\/strong>
I\u2019ve learned to trust myself more\u2014my processes and my intuition\u2014to gradually lose the fear of venturing into the unknown and to open myself up to experimenting with different formats: film or digital, photo or video, street or portrait. I\u2019ve also learned to enjoy the process more than the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discovery, everyday life, recollection, memory, curiosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Santiago 1980-1983<\/em> from Mauricio Valenzuela<\/a><\/strong> is a photobook that I find incredibly inspiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What's been the most difficult thing you've faced recently in your creative process?<\/strong>
The hardest thing has been not comparing myself to others and respecting my own rhythm. Learning to move slowly, not overexert myself, and staying true to what genuinely interests me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite restaurant and what do you recommend we order?<\/strong>
I recommend the quesadillas de cecina at Almac\u00e9n H\u00e9rcules<\/a><\/strong> in Quer\u00e9taro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your life were a movie this month, what would it be called and who would write the soundtrack?<\/strong>
It would be called We Live Here <\/em>and the soundtrack would be by Yo la tengo<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommend one or more artists you follow who inspire you, and tell us what you like most about their work or their way of working.<\/strong>
I love how intimate, poetic, and emotional Olivia Bee<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s photographs are; and Greg Girard<\/a><\/strong> for the way he portrays spaces, light, and color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
