What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?<\/strong><\/strong>
I graduated university with a Bachelor of Film and Screen Media late last year, so the projects I've jumped on to recently have been video-focused with opportunities to capture special moments on my camera.

My recent major project was Siblinghood<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, a mixed-media animated short film I completed in my final semester at university. The film explores my experience growing up alongside my siblings, incorporating childhood home-video and hand-crafted graphics. Additionally, I had the opportunity to collaborate on a boutique photoshoot for a student short film 'Touch' in December, as well as capturing some behind-the-scenes action on local film projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on them?
<\/strong>During the crafting of Siblinghood<\/em> I had the privilege of discovering the magical world of physical mixed-media animation. I grew a newfound appreciation for stop-motion animation, and fell in love with the intricacy of designing every frame. Furthermore, my photography projects have been invaluable in developing my craft and cemented my love for the documentary style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

What words, ideas or emotions were going through your head?<\/strong><\/strong>
As a creative, I gravitate toward authentic and emotionally charged stories, and Siblinghood<\/em> was the ultimate ode to my childhood and those who shaped me \u2014 my built-in best friends. Throughout the creative process, the words \"nostalgia\" and \"childlike wonder\" were recurrent undertones behind every choice I made. To achieve this, I had the idea to execute a scrapbooked and hand-crafted style through mixed media animation \u2014 think lots of texture, colour and visuals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Were there any conversations, movies, music, or books that made their way into that work?
<\/strong>The making of this short film opened many reminiscent conversations with my siblings about our shared childhood; these heavily influenced the end product. Honestly, the art medium that inspired me the most throughout the project were real children's crafts and drawings, I tried to imitate that style and was transported back to preschool craft time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What's been the most difficult thing you've faced recently in your creative process?
<\/strong>I recently bought my first DSLR camera (very exciting!) and this month I have been going through the process of learning how to use it to its full potential. It has been a learning curve as I'm more accustomed to the analog process, but it's been a fun challenge nonetheless! I'm excited to incorporate this camera into my current workflow for future projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite restaurant and what do you recommend we order?
Honto<\/a><\/strong>in Brisbane! You have to get the wagyu tartare, whiting sando, potstickers & salmon aburi. Amazing cocktail list too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your life were a movie this month, what would it be called and who would write the soundtrack?
<\/strong>Fresh out of university, there's a lot of unknown possibilities ahead of me. I\u2019ll go with the title Pending<\/em>, soundtrack by Djo<\/a><\/strong> (Joe Keery) because I'm so obsessed with his most recent album, The Crux<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommend one or more artists you follow who inspire you, and tell us what you like most about their work or their way of working.
<\/strong>I've been really loving this Gold Coast\u2013based photographer and creator Lucy Lumen<\/a><\/strong>, she specialises in fashion, food, and street photography. Her work inspires me to find unique compositions in every location, and to not take photography too seriously. Her use of flash is also super cool, and has inspired me to use my flash in unconventional ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
