What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?<\/strong>
Last week I took a silver jewelry workshop and loved it. Photographically speaking, I want to keep exploring fashion, portraiture, people, and identity. What\u2019s most constant, though, is that I carry my point-and-shoot camera,<\/em> on trips with family, friends, or partners, photographing the everyday and whatever catches my eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on them?<\/strong>
Photographs are like freezing a moment. For me, that\u2019s the most beautiful thing about life: you never return to that exact moment twice, but through a photograph you can get close to the feeling you experienced then.

When it comes to portraits, I feel it\u2019s important to connect and to create a comfortable, playful space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What words, ideas or emotions were going through your head?<\/strong>
Intuition, bias, memory, details, nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Were there any conversations, movies, music, or books that made their way into that work?<\/strong>
I read The Vegetarian<\/a><\/strong>. I couldn\u2019t read it straight through because it frustrated me and I had to pause. I watched Nana<\/a><\/strong>. I listened to songs by Paloma Mami<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What's been the most difficult thing you've faced recently in your creative process?<\/strong>
Reconnecting with myself after a year marked by several losses and periods of mourning. Reconnecting with my self-esteem and my originality, without judging myself, without being pretentious, and without trying to belong to places that don\u2019t feel like me.s<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite restaurant and what do you recommend we order?<\/strong>
I think my favorite restaurant right now is Chui<\/a><\/strong>. I recommend the avocado with kimchi and the mushroom rice. But without a doubt, nothing beats a good garnacha or a roasted corn from the Mercado Jamaica<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your life were a movie this month, what would it be called and who would write the soundtrack?<\/strong>
It would be called something like \u201cThere is no room for nostalgia this january.\u201d I\u2019d love the soundtrack to be by Willie Col\u00f3n<\/a><\/strong>, with the vibe of the song \u201cOh, what could it be?<\/strong><\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommend one or more artists you follow who inspire you, and tell us what you like most about their work or their way of working.<\/strong>
Lately I\u2019ve been listening to Alanis Yuki,<\/a><\/strong> an emerging Mexican artist with a lot of flow. I love the clothing brand springtimewishes<\/a><\/strong>, made by women, because it\u2019s very dreamy. Jewelry by Relic of the East, <\/a><\/strong>and sculptures and jewelry by Manuela Riestra<\/a><\/strong>. I love how they turn sculpture into jewelry. In photography or audiovisual work, Sam Youkilis<\/a><\/strong>. The way he portrays the everyday always relaxes and inspires me.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
