What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?<\/strong>
I\u2019ve been working on a research project about surveillance in the contemporary world, and I\u2019m currently developing a mock-up for a photo book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on them?<\/strong>
I invented a process to create \u201ctexture\u201d in the images, to reveal a sort of \u201cweaving\u201d in my photographs, making them appear as if they come from surveillance cameras. I realized that the watchful eye is more alive than ever, and that this is a process that won\u2019t retreat, but will continue to expand its reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What words, ideas or emotions were going through your head?<\/strong>
Image texture, paranoia, surveillance. The feeling of being watched while simultaneously becoming another camera myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Were there any conversations, movies, music, or books that made their way into that work?<\/strong>
A phrase I read in a newspaper, \u201cthe Anthropocene cannot be photographed,\u201d continues to resonate with me. The book The Age of Surveillance Capitalism<\/a><\/strong>, by Shoshana Zuboff also contributed greatly to my research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What's been the most difficult thing you've faced recently in your creative process?<\/strong>
Trying to find a balance between working on the projects that excite me in the moment and, at the same time, working on the ones that are functioning in \u201creal life,\u201d all while keeping up with everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your life were a movie this month, what would it be called and who would write the soundtrack?<\/strong>
Operation scorpion, soundtrack by<\/em>, Fever Ray<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cancino<\/a><\/strong> in Coyoac\u00e1n. I recommend starting with the roasted beets with jocoque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
