What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?<\/strong>
Lately, I\u2019ve been focusing on photographing my surroundings, documenting changes in my routines; new routes I take, or sometimes the same ones, but seen from a different perspective.
What I\u2019d really love is to keep photographing bands, doing sessions, and experimenting with different types of film development to give each project a unique personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on them?<\/strong>
Honestly, I relearned how to use a camera. When I was shooting digital, I knew how to adjust things, but I didn\u2019t always comprehend exactly what I was adjusting. Now, with a mechanical camera, I had to truly understand it again. I was a bit afraid of not knowing how to expose properly, but it turned out to be quite the opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What words, ideas or emotions were going through your head?<\/strong>
Nostalgia is what\u2019s most present in my mind when I take photos. Much of what I photograph are things I saw as a child or years ago, which I now look at with a lot of affection and love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Were there any conversations, movies, music, or books that made their way into that work?<\/strong>
Asian cinema is something that\u2019s always present when I think about taking photos: Yi Yi<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, Goodbye Dragon Inn<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, Moving<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What's been the most difficult thing you've faced recently in your creative process?<\/strong>
I don\u2019t feel like my creative process is fully developed yet, but it\u2019s slowly taking shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite restaurant and what do you recommend we order?<\/strong>
My favorite restaurant here in Culiac\u00e1n is a place called Maneki Neko<\/a><\/strong>. They have some of the best homemade sushi around, and I highly recommend ordering the Eby Roll Especial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your life were a movie this month, what would it be called and who would write the soundtrack?<\/strong>
I think I\u2019d call it Hodori<\/em>, and I\u2019d love for Mil Ataris por Segundo<\/a><\/strong> to do the soundtrack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommend one or more artists you follow who inspire you, and tell us what you like most about their work or their way of working.<\/strong>
I recommend Itoki<\/a><\/strong>, a graphic artist and photographer whose work I really love. In his drawings, he uses very sharp, angular shapes, and I truly love the characters he creates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
