What pieces or projects have you been working on lately?
<\/strong>I have several projects developing simultaneously. Some are deeply rooted in modern Sinaloan culture, as that's where I currently live. Photographic\/video research topics include the masks and traditions of the Jews of the Yoreme culture; the Italika motorcycle culture as a sense of community and belonging for young people in Sinaloa; illegal horse racing, etc. And also the personal projects that are always necessary to expel emotions. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on them?
<\/strong>In my research projects on Sinaloa, I've learned that delving into one's origins is incredibly powerful. There's a very strong and natural rush of energy in exploring one's roots. You discover things you didn't know before, but at the same time, when you learn about them, they feel very familiar. You find answers to your psyche that you've been searching for for a long time; you understand a little about why you are the way you are. You know yourself through others, through your culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In emotional projects, I'm unlearning old habits. I know I want to do something more elaborate. I'm in that process of feeling, observing, and finding the most radical ways to transform emotions into something that goes beyond a photo accompanied by a text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What words, ideas or emotions were going through your head?
<\/strong>In research projects: adventure, curiosity, disinhibition, connection, going deeper and deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In emotional projects: overwhelming feelings that then turn into a brainstorming session of ways to get rid of the things you're carrying inside. I think when a human being feels weird things, they need to get them out, and then they get creative. At least that's how it works for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
