So initially it was really stripped back and didn&#8217;t have any of the instrumental parts in it yet. Most of the lyrics have stayed the same since then so they&#8217;re pretty simplistic because I was younger at the time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How was the recording session?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe recording session was really fun and we got through a lot of tracking pretty quickly. On the first studio day, the song sounded more like a garage rock song, but on the second day we made some changes like adding a bunch of reverb, delay and acoustic guitars to give it more of a dreamy vibe.<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"border-radius: 12px;\" data-src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/track\/2QOthEsAfYUOPWX2mT0P5o?utm_source=generator\" width=\"100%\" height=\"80\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>What were the references, influences or musical inspiration?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe song has gone through a lot of phases since it was written. There was a time when it had a key change but we took that out pretty quickly. Slowdive were a big influence on the final version of the song as we really liked the reverb and delay they used on vocals and guitars in their Souvlaki album.<\/p>\n<p class=\"pull-left\">&#8220;On the first studio day, the song sounded more like a garage rock song, but on the second day we made some changes like adding a bunch of reverb, delay and acoustic guitars to give it more of a dreamy vibe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What did you most enjoyed of the writing, production and recording process?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe best part about the creation process was hearing the song gradually come to life as we added layers and effects. It&#8217;s one thing hearing the song during a jam but hearing it played back to you is a really cool feeling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was the biggest obstacle and how was it overcome?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe hardest part was making the first verse sound full but not overbearing. This was hard at times because there&#8217;s not many instruments in that first verse, but we fixed this by switching the electric guitar with an acoustic and adding ethereal background noises to fill in the gaps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you could have invited anyone else to collaborate, who would it have been and why?<\/strong><br \/>\nKevin Shields because he&#8217;s got lots of pedals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the biggest challenge to present this song live and how has it been solved?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe hardest part about that is trying to make it sound full as there are three or four guitar parts in the studio version of the song.
