La depresiva caminata que conduce al personaje por las calles de Nueva York, ciudad que en manos de I\u00f1\u00e1rritu adopta el papel de descomunal set teatral, desemboca en una licorer\u00eda repleta de luces, mientras una voz, que aparentemente habita dentro de la mente de Keaton, recita el c\u00e9lebre soliloquio de Shakespeare sobre &#8216;el ruido y la furia&#8217;. El ambiente profundamente on\u00edrico de la tienda sirve para que la c\u00e1mara de Emmanuel Lubezki, fot\u00f3grafo superestrella del momento que deber\u00eda con toda justicia conseguir su segundo Oscar al hilo con esta maravilla, se recree entre las luces de colores y la cara demacrada de Keaton que sale, bolsa de estraza en mano y con la novena sinfon\u00eda de Mahler como acompa\u00f1amiento, a una calle en donde la c\u00e1mara descubre que los di\u00e1logos de <em>Macbeth<\/em> son recitados por un vagabundo al borde del colapso. La abrumadora complejidad conceptual, narrativa y t\u00e9cnica de esos minutos, resume a la perfecci\u00f3n lo que Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu pretende hacer a lo largo de las dos horas de duraci\u00f3n de <em>Birdman<\/em>: en primer lugar tenemos la brillante t\u00e9cnica visual de Lubezki, quien para este proyecto consigue generar la ilusi\u00f3n de que el 90% del filme est\u00e1 compuesto por una gigantesca toma sin cortes de poco m\u00e1s de hora y media de duraci\u00f3n, proeza detr\u00e1s de la que se esconden algunos cortes disfrazados, pero que, a\u00fan as\u00ed, involucra una grandiosa complejidad de coordinaci\u00f3n histri\u00f3nica y f\u00edlmica, la falsa toma sin cortes est\u00e1 compuesta a su vez por varias tomas secundarias con duraciones de m\u00e1s de 10 minutos cada una, lo que eleva la complejidad t\u00e9cnica de filmaci\u00f3n y de la posterior correcci\u00f3n de color, todo esto sin contar la dificultad asociada a generar con dicha t\u00e9cnica la alucinante cantidad de momentos hermosos que la lente de Lubezki consigue captar. En segundo lugar, tenemos al c\u00famulo de actores que rodea esta obra magna: Emma Stone como la hija de Keaton, Zach Galifianakis como el productor de la obra, Naomi Watts como una de las actrices protag\u00f3nicas, y por encima de todos Edward Norton como el actor joven y altanero, adem\u00e1s de Michael Keaton, en el mejor papel de su vida, como ese despojo de actor que cree que vale m\u00e1s de lo que es, y que pelea con garras, dientes y sangre para conquistar la trascendencia que cree merecer. En tercer lugar, est\u00e1 la gloriosa banda sonora, que salvo por algunos instantes en los que I\u00f1\u00e1rritu recurre a Mahler o Tchaikovsky para apuntalar momentos de gran dramatismo, est\u00e1 compuesta por las brillantes improvisaciones jazz\u00edsticas de Antonio Sanchez, las cuales llegan incluso a coexistir de forma visual con la trama, contribuyendo a ese aspecto a veces on\u00edrico y a veces esquizofr\u00e9nico que I\u00f1\u00e1rritu construye, con todo y homenaje a Fellini inclu\u00eddo (v\u00e9ase la secuencia del vuelo de Keaton por el t\u00fanel), con maestr\u00eda desmedida. Finalmente, en cuarto lugar de menci\u00f3n, pero no en \u00faltimo de importancia, est\u00e1 la historia que I\u00f1\u00e1rritu escribe junto a Nicol\u00e1s Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris y Armando Bo, la cual aborda con lucidez una abrumadora cantidad de conflictos que por s\u00ed mismos requerir\u00edan filmes independientes, pero que a lo largo de dos horas se concatenan a la perfecci\u00f3n en una bestia que en manos de cualquier otro director habr\u00eda resultado incontrolable, mientras que en poder de I\u00f1\u00e1rritu se convierten en un relato que disecciona el miedo a la intrascendencia y al amor, as\u00ed como la intensa pasi\u00f3n del artista que lo sacrifica todo por una necesidad instintiva que surge de una fuerza interior que ni \u00e9l mismo acaba de comprender, pero que lo obliga a sumergirse en un proceso creativo irrestricto, as\u00ed como en la autodestrucci\u00f3n que dicho proceso conlleva.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Estoy en quiebra. Lo he arriesgado todo por esta obra&#8217;, le dice Keaton a una cr\u00edtica que amenaza con destruir su obra el d\u00eda del estreno, &#8216;&#8230;t\u00fa nunca has arriesgado nada en la vida&#8230; no has creado nada&#8230; eres \u00fanicamente una adjetivadora&#8230; una catalogadora&#8230;&#8217;. Ir\u00f3nicamente, la cr\u00edtica que hab\u00eda sido mordaz con los \u00faltimos trabajos de I\u00f1\u00e1rritu no tiene m\u00e1s remedio que rendirse ahora ante \u00e9l.
