I think I\u2019ve been lost for the most part of my life. Even the beats where I wasn\u2019t are hard to remember as me being completely “there”. Guess that\u2019s why I have a habit of latching on to anything that promises \u201cmeaning\u201d. Sort of an \u201cA-ha! So this is what\u2019s been missing\u201d kind of attitude towards life.<\/p>\n

\n

Quite frankly speaking, it is probably the worst kind of attitude towards anything, let alone life. It leaves you hungry for all sort of things and, worse, it makes you get sick of them pretty quickly. Worse yet, I think of myself as Buddhist.<\/p>\n

\n

Some Buddhist buddy of mine even says that he\u2019s amazed Buddha hasn\u2019t somehow materialized himself and beat the shit out of me for living the way I do. \u201cIt\u2019s all the wanting,\u201d he says \u201chow can you call yourself a Buddhist and have so much wanting in you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

Well, that\u2019s easy: I just call myself a Buddhist. It\u2019s not that hard. It\u2019s just a word, like \u201codd\u201d or \u201cpretty\u201d or \u201clove\u201d, they mean nothing by themselves. Anyone can say these words (Hell, I\u2019d argue that people say them a bit too much). It\u2019s their concept, the idea they draw in our mind, which truly interests us.<\/p>\n

\n

I use the word \u201cBuddhist\u201d because I like the concept of it (the enlightenment, the inner peace), but that doesn\u2019t mean I\u2019m gonna be dumb enough as to stop my wanting. That\u2019s like being really in love with someone and never making love to them; you can do it, most certainly, but it somehow doesn\u2019t feel right.<\/p>\n

\n

I think that makes me a \u201cwanting-Buddhist\u201d (a seeker of inner peace and anything else that might come along the way). It sounds nice at the very least.
