I hurt you — I know —
like someone breaking a branch
without seeing that a song nested in it.
Now I hear the echo,
distant,
and I know it was your voice.

The landscape is still there,
quiet, patient,
while life begins to grow again
in the corners where you are no longer.

I wish the sun finds you first,
that your days be gentle,
that the wind does not remind you of me.
I remain here,
in this shadow that looks outward,
learning that hope
can also take the shape of farewell.

Sometimes I return to that threshold,
where shadow embraces light
and silence takes your shape.
I don't know if what I did was love,
or just an attempt to sabotage,
to hold on to something I should have let go of.

Time slowly taught me
that to love is also to let go,
that not everything broken can be repaired,
but it can still bloom.

I failed you unintentionally,
with the blindness of someone who fears losing
the only thing that gives them meaning.
And in that clumsiness,
learn to look inward,
to find in me
the peace I sought in your eyes.

Today I wish you happiness,
without guilt haunting me,
without nostalgia calling to me so loudly.
Because if I understood anything,
it's that true love
doesn't always stay—
sometimes it only transforms
into a hope that breathes in the distance.

What did you learn (or unlearn) while working on them?
Muchas cosas han sido a prueba y error, muchas frustraciones, muchos enojos, pero entre todo eso ver algo hermoso y saber que yo lo capture es algo que me da mucha emoción y me da esperanza el que cada click que le dé a la cámara, será un avance y una mejora para mí.

What words, ideas or emotions were going through your head?
En el momento de capturar estas fotos simplemente lo que tenía en mi cabeza era asombro, y euforia al ver algo que solo había visto a través de una pantalla, y la emoción de yo llevarme ese momento capturado por mis propias manos.

Were there any conversations, movies, music, or books that made their way into that work?
Una canción que podría decir que se haya colado en mi trabajo es Outro de M83, es una canción que me genera demasiada tranquilidad y paz, pero más que nada lo que más se me venía a la mente eran varios recuerdos de chiquito mientras mis papás nos tomaban fotos a mi hermana y a mí con su cámara, una Olympus OM1 (que conservo a la fecha y quiero restaurarla con mis manos) y ver la felicidad cuando regresaban con las fotografías en la mano.

Which visual artists inspired you and what attracted you to their way of working?
Como tal las personas que me inspiraron a la fotografía fueron mi papas, pero si tuviera que elegir en este momento mencionaría a Rafael Avcioglu and Joshua Nai ya que siento que logran capturar su ideas, su personalidad  y sus sentimientos en cada una de sus imágenes.

Igualmente quisiera mencionar no a una persona, si no a un grupo local de fotografía análoga aquí en Monterrey: Análogos Anónimos, que el conocerlos y convivir con ellos es demasiado inspirador y motivador para alguien que apenas va empezando en esto como yo.
