That I know as well as the lines of your hands

Bodies and cotton joined together to form a single block

of absolute stillness

Everything is in place but

Everything is flowing, light

Everything spins in a galactic spiral, I take a breath.

The eyes exert pressure and I concentrate but

I get lost in perceptions of each sense

I lose myself in memories I never lived

In memories of others that I took as my own

In dreams I don't remember dreaming

In ideas that dissipate like specks of dust

In the darkness of the cosmos of your eyes

And it makes my skin crawl when you brush against my back

And on a distant radio they talk about nuclear war.

But they say nothing

Because there is nothing left to say.
